Build Your Own Field Day Activity Ideas:
Below are a few activity ideas to get you started. Feel free to use/build upon these ideas or create your own activities! We can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Office Chair Relay
# of players
- Equal members of each team (8v8, 5v5, etc.)
Equipment needed:
- 1 office chair with wheels per team
- Flat surface for “race course”
- A stationary object for racers to aim for or around (e.g., trashcan, cone, etc.)
- Masking or painter’s tape
Setup:
- Place masking or painter’s tape on the ground to designate the starting line. Line up each team and their chair behind the line. Depending on your office layout, place the stationary object at the other end of the office hallway or conference room to race towards, around, and back.
Object of Activity:
- Complete the race in an office chair faster than the other teams.
Instructions:
- To begin this activity, one member of each team will sit in the office chair behind the designated starting line. Once the official says “go”, the starting members will race head-to-head towards and around the stationary object at the other end of the course. Once the racer heads back to the team, the next team member will stand ready at the line. The racer will tag the next team member in and proceed to get up from the chair to then let the tagged team member sit in the chair and continue the race. Repeat until all participants have finished the race.
- Note: All wheels must cross the line before tagging the next teammate and switching places.
Points
Fastest Team | Second Place | Following Additional Teams |
5 points | 3 points | 1 point |

Trash Can Ball
# of players
- Equal members of each team (8v8, 5v5, etc.)
Equipment needed:
- 1 trash can
- 1 piece of crumpled paper per team
- Tape Measure
Setup:
- Place the trash can 15 feet away from the designated tossing line. Each team will have one crumpled-up sheet of paper in the shape of a ball for tossing into the trash can.
Object of Activity:
- Successfully toss the paper ball into the trash can as many times as possible before the time runs out. The team with the most points at the end of 5 minutes wins.
Instructions:
- Each team will line up single-file at the designated tossing line. Each team member will have one attempt at a time to toss a paper ball into the trash can. Once the player tosses the paper ball, the ball will then be rebounded and given to the next teammate in line. Continue the process until the 5 minutes is up. The team with the most points wins.
- Note: Any intentional physical interference with the other team while tossing or rebounding will be penalized 5 points.

Rubber Band Archery
# of players
- Equal members of each team (8v8, 5v5, etc.)
Equipment needed:
- Sheet of paper
- Sharpie
- Tape
- Rubber Bands
- Tape Measure
Setup:
- Using a sharpie, draw two circles to create the shape of a bullseye for the target. Tape up the target onto a wall and have the “archers” stand behind a line marked with tape 10 feet away.
Object of Activity:
- Have the archer fling a rubber band at the target to collect points. The team with the most points after everyone has completed both attempts, wins.
Instructions:
- Archers will line up in one single-file line behind the first participant and then alternating by team. The archer will stand behind a designated line, aim and fling a rubber band at the hanging target and collect the points. Each participant will have 2 attempts to collect points and the scoring is as follows:
Points
Bullseye | First outer circle | Second outer circle | Outside of circles but hit the paper | Did not hit paper |
5 points | 3 points | 2 points | 1 point | 0 points |

Paper Airplane Throw
# of players
- Equal members of each team (8v8, 5v5, etc.)
Equipment needed:
- 1 sheet of paper per participant
- Tape Measure
- Masking Tape or another kind of distance marker
Setup:
- Use the masking tape to designate a throwing line. From that line, measure out 10 feet and place another line of masking tape or use a distance marker. Continue further to the next 10 feet (20 feet from the initial throwing line) and place another line or marker. Continue the same process one more time so the lines and markers are measured as:
- Throwing line (0 feet) > 1st marker (10 feet from throwing line) > 2nd marker (20 feet from throwing line) > 3rd marker (30 feet from throwing line)
Object of Activity:
- Have the paper airplane land the furthest away from the throwing line to score the most points to add to the team’s total score.
Instructions:
- Each player will make a paper airplane by using just one sheet of paper and nothing else. One player from each team will throw at a time from the throwing line. Wherever the plane lands without additional movement will determine how many points that team will receive. The team that collects the most points after all attempts wins.
Points
30+ Feet | 20 – 30 Feet | 10 – 20 Feet | 0 – 10 Feet | Behind the throwing line |
6 points | 4 points | 3 points | 1 point | 0 points |
