Thrive in Five
Thrive in Five
Five months. Five ways to care for your mind.
What is Thrive in Five?
This spring, Living Well at Texas A&M invites you to Thrive in Five. This five-month mental wellness campaign offers realistic, practical ways to support the mental health of our faculty and staff. Each month focuses on a different mental wellness theme and offers tools, resources, and opportunities to take action. Participate each month to build healthy habits, access support, and take meaningful steps toward improved well-being.

Do Good, Feel Good
Wellness isn’t just about managing stress or staying active, it’s also about how we show up for one another. Celebrate National Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb. 14–20) with us and discover how small acts of kindness can strengthen mental well-being and create a more positive campus community.
Why kindness matters:
- Reduces stress: People who regularly practice kindness have up to 23% lower cortisol levels.
- Boosts mental health: Small acts of kindness activate feel-good endorphins, supporting positive mood and stress relief.
- Increases happiness: 63% of adults report improved mental health when they experience kindness—and the same when they show kindness to others.
The Ripple Effect
One small act of kindness can inspire another. Seeing or experiencing kindness encourages others to pay it forward, creating a chain reaction that strengthens teams, workplaces, and communities.
Take one small step this month:
- Choose one intentional act of kindness each day
- Practice kindness at work and toward yourself
- Reflect on how giving or receiving kindness makes you feel
- Encourage others to join in and pay it forward
Do Good, Feel Good.
Small acts of kindness can have a big impact on your mental health and on those around you. Tag, you’re it! Spread the good. A little kindness goes a long way.

Why Mental Health First Aid matters:
- Early support matters: Recognizing warning signs and offering support early can reduce the risk of mental health crises.
- Improves confidence: Mental Health First Aid training helps participants feel more prepared to approach and support someone in distress.
- Strengthens workplaces: Employees who feel supported are more likely to stay engaged, connected, and productive.
- Encourages help-seeking: Knowing how to start the conversation can help someone feel seen, heard, and supported.
Take one small step this month:
- Learn one sign that someone may be struggling
- Practice checking in with a coworker
- Save mental health resources for future reference
- Give yourself permission to step away and recharge when needed
Support Starts with You.
